Viognier / Marsanne
McLaren Vale, Australia
D'Arenberg is a wine producer located in the McLaren Vale subregion of South Australia. The estate was established in 1912 by Joseph Osborn, who initially sold grapes from the vineyards to other wineries in the region. The d'Arenberg winery was built in 1927, and today, the estate is run by fourth-generation Chester Osborn and his father, d'Arry whom constructed the geometric d'Arenberg cube on the estate in 2017.
"The Hermit Crab" is an ode to the fossilized crustaceans usually found within the terroir of McLaren Vale, because this area was once under water. The Viognier spends 8 months in oak before the two grapes are blended together for bottling.
