The Osmote family is Ben, Brittnie and Mia, plus all the friends and family who have helped us along the way. Ben Riccardi is both winemaker and business manager. Born in the Finger Lakes, he now lives on the southern end of Seneca Lake. His work experiences include notably Willams Selyem in California, Craggy Range in New Zealand, and City Winery New York in Manhattan.
Our one of a kind chillable red wine. Made from the historic DeChaunac grape, an old French American hybrid grape. Fruit from the beautiful Patrician Verona Vineyard on Cayuga Lake, these storied vines were planted in 1973. We pick the dark red fruit early, press it into a red juice and ferment that juice on used Chardonnay skins, making this wine a sort of bridge between a light red wine and an orange wine.
Amber and garnet hued the wine appears in the glass almost like an orange wine. Aromas are full of cranberry, fresh cherry, and rose. The palate is refreshing with medium acidity and a broad midpalate with light tannins. Flavors of blood orange and cherries. Enjoy the wine with a chill.
