Bodega Cerro Chapeu winery is the wine pioneer of Rivera, on the border of Brazil, first planting vineyards in 1975. In fact, part of the estate is technically in Brazil!  With a long-standing family winemaking tradition, now with the tenth generation taking charge, it was the unique red sand soils and undulating hillsides that first attracted the family to this northeastern corner of Uruguay, and the juicy, vibrant quality of the wines convinced them year on year to plant more. Today the winemaking is in the hands of his descendent Dr Francisco Carrau Bonomi who designed the family winery in this unique region of Uruguay.
